What are History Day Buttons?

Various history day buttons collected by educational staff over the years.

History Day buttons are created by all National History Day affiliates, students can trade buttons at the National contest. Make your mark in the Vermont History Day hall of fame by submitting your own button design for the contest.

Please note: Student in grades 5 to 12 are eligible to submit their designs, preregistration for the Vermont History Day State Contest is not required. Students are limited to one design submission. The design must fit the button template (printed it will be a 1 ¾ inch radius). The submitted design must be an original work by the student, in any medium.

Students may not use the following in their designs:

  • Copyrighted images
  • AI image generators
  • Symbols that violate their school’s code of conduct
