Can you sing Vermont's state song?
The Vermont state song is “These Green Mountains” by Diane Martin and Rita Buglass Gluck. The Vermont Arts Council held a competition to find a new song to celebrate the state. Vermonters helped select this as the official state song in 2000.
The lyrics do not say the name of the state. What details are included in the words that let you know the song is about Vermont?
These green hills and silver waters
Are my home - they belong to me
And to all her sons and daughters
May they be strong and forever free
Let us live to protect her beauty
And look with pride on the golden dome
They say home is where the heart is
These green mountains are my home
These green mountains are my home.
