What animal is the Vermont state animal?
Vermont’s official state animal is the Morgan horse. The first Morgan horse was named Figure. He was a small but strong horse. He won horse races against other fast horses. Justin Morgan owned Figure in the late 1700s. This horse became the father of many other strong and fast horses. Now the Morgan horse is a breed(a type of animal that comes from a selected group of parents) that is famous for pulling and riding. The Morgan horse became the Vermont state animal in 1961.
